The fastest way to reach me is email:

awardletter@docsanddeadlines.com

I read everything. I reply to most things within a few days, though it can take longer during busy weeks.

What I'd especially like to hear about

Corrections. If the Department of Education has revised a form, retired a tool, changed what verification asks for, moved a loan limit or a deadline, or if a school or state has rewritten its appeal procedure, residency test, or transfer equivalency table, and a page here still describes the old version — tell me, ideally with the official page you saw it on. The same goes for a link that now lands on a dead page or a generic search screen, which is how guides in this subject usually rot: quietly, and always right before a deadline. Corrections are the maintenance this site runs on, not a complaint.

Gaps. If you went looking for a procedure and found nothing usable anywhere — a document request whose purpose nobody explains, a line on an award letter that is not defined anywhere, a step in a transfer evaluation that only becomes visible once it has gone wrong — that is exactly what should be written up next. Several of the guides here exist because someone described the thing they could not find.

Questions. If a guide left you unsure what to do next, say where it stopped being clear. I cannot advise on your file, but "this paragraph assumes something the reader doesn't know yet" is useful and gets fixed.

What I can't help with

  • Reviewing your FAFSA, CSS Profile, award letters, or appeal letter, or telling you what to enter on a form
  • Estimating your aid, your Student Aid Index, or what a school will offer you
  • Predicting whether an appeal, a dependency override, or a residency reclassification will be granted — only the office holding your file can decide that
  • Contacting a school, lender, servicer, or agency on your behalf, or intervening in a decision
  • Advice on private loans, refinancing, credit, investing, or tax filing
  • Recommending which college to attend or which loan to take
  • Requests to publish sponsored posts, paid guest articles, or link insertions

If a deadline is running — a verification deadline, an appeal window, a bill due date — write to the financial aid office directly rather than to me. A day matters more there than a reply does here.
